Certificate of conformity in Azerbaijan

Certificate of conformity in Azerbaijan

Observations conducted by the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the Ministry of Economy in large retail chains, markets, shops and other similar outlets show that in some outlets the products offered to consumers are sold without a certificate of conformity guaranteeing their safety in the country.

According to the requirements of the legislation, the sale and use of consumer goods of foreign origin to which the technical regulation applies is prohibited in the absence of a certificate confirming compliance with the requirements of the standards. In order to import such goods into the country, the importer must submit a certificate of conformity confirming the safety of the goods.

According to the Code of Administrative Offenses, officials selling goods without a certificate of conformity are fined from 1,500 to 2,000 manat, and legal entities from 4,000 to 6,000 manat.

At the same time, in case of discovery of such facts, in order to prevent the import of goods without a certificate of conformity, the issue of these business entities is raised before the relevant government agencies and their sale is restricted.

Entrepreneurs engaged in imports can apply to the Certus Certification Company, which is accredited by the Azerbaijan Institute of Standardization and has a wide range of activities, in order to avoid administrative sanctions.
